12/29/12 -- "An Unpopular Position: An Appeal to Rationality"

Or "The Post Where I Lose the Rest of What Few Readers I Have"

This post isn't what I had planned for this week. Originally, I was going to talk about the cool stuff I got for Christmas, as I'd gotten enough anime-related goods that it justified a full review post. They weren't strictly all anime, but they were certainly anime-flavored. As such, due to unforeseen circumstances, you've all been spared my biting and poignant analysis of The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya.

It was gonna have references to "Night Court" and everything!
You know? Anime!
What I now intend to talk about is something that I ran into over the course of enjoying one of my Christmas presents: An anime entitled Steins;Gate. I started watching the first Blu-Ray release, consisting of the first twelve episodes, and finished it in a couple of days. I immediately bought part two of the FUNimation release, not knowing the disastrous implication of what I was doing. I thought that if I enjoyed something that was bought for me out of love, I could reciprocate that emotion by purchasing the second half of said gift.

It was a little expensive, but that didn't bother me. I had the money to spend after the holidays, and I thought the translation was well-handled, producing a highly recommendable dub experience backed up by quality dubbing. It was a good dub.

Sunday Brunch -- The Forbidden Dub

I like this picture. It looks like Nagi is carefully considering having a Brunch with Hayate and Maria, who are waiting for her response with bated breath.

This is a tale of woe and futility, one that it pains me to say I failed to accomplish, at least in the way I'd intended. Find out what I destroyed my finals week trying to do after the break.

12/8/12 -- "Oh, Baby, Do You Know What That's Worth?"

Look it up; that joke was hilarious.

This week, we're rejoining Hayate and the gang in his first movie, "Heaven is a Place on Earth". Was it enough to melt away the stresses of finals week, if only for a little while? Find out after the break!

This week we're ordering off the menu instead!

With finals and  such coming up, I need something good for my health to help calm me down. Nothing that everyone's favorite unlucky butler can't help me out with! This week, instead of watching three anime episodes, I'll be watching one anime movie.

This week we check back in on the Hakuou gang in "Hayate the Combat Butler: Heaven is a Place on Earth" for your amusement and my relaxation. Speaking of which, did you guys see the latest Hayate? Omigawd so hype!

There'll be no Buffet on the 15th or the 22nd, but to make up for it, I'll have a nice Sunday brunch prepared for you on the 16th to make up for it. Because I care.

12/1/12 -- I Finally Get to Watch Something Dramatic

Finally! After weeks of slice-of-life shows, we're ramping up to watch some big-boy anime. I can't tell you how excited I am, mostly because something bad always happens when I talk about how excited I am about something.

This week we're getting serious with Durarara!!, Sword Art Online, and a mystery show! Enough of this patter, let's get to the platter!

This week's menu and I made a huge mistake

Hopefully we've all recovered from the Thanksgiving storm. We said a lot of things that I know we didn't mean, but I think we can all agree that we're fine now. Fine.

Except that I can't escape from the horrible thing that I did. We can make excuses all we want, but we have to own up to it if we ever want this relationship to stay healthy. That's why this week I'm going to make things right.

This week, the shows I'll be watching are:

  • Durarara
  • Sword Art Online
  • Vindication Mystery Surprise! (That's not the name of an anime, surprisingly enough. I'm trying to be suspenseful)

11/23/12 -- Butlers vs. M@sters

Back in action after an overstuffed Thanksgiving. Luckily I didn't gain too much weight, as my punch-lines alone burn off twenty calories at a time.

Anyway, this week we're looking at iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia, The Idol Master, and Hayate no Gotoku: Can't Take My Eyes Off You. How did they shape up? Check it out after the break.

This week's shows!

I'll surely be bedridden from over consumption of  turkey, potatoes, pumpkin pie, and leftover turkey, but I have a duty to pursue this casual hobby. As such, here's what's on the menu for Saturday.

Idolmaster: Xenoglossia

The Idol Master

Hayate no Gotoku! Can't Take My Eyes Off You

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! I, on the other hand, will be eating myself into a coma.

11/17/12 -- Working on Aria While Seagulls Cry

Man it's early to be up on a Saturday. Did I really ever get up this early to watch cartoons?

This week I'm watching Working!!, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, and Umineko, three shows that couldn't be more different. Will this breakfast leave me smiling and satisfied, or will I have to send this one back to the kitchen? Find out after the break!

Sample Platter: Cherry Tree High Comedy Club

To give a better idea of how I plan to do things, and to introduce some of the concepts I'll be looking at during this weekend's Buffet, I'm going to look at a game I tried out a couple of days ago called Cherry Tree High Comedy Club. It seemed like a good fit for me. I like comedy, I've been in a few clubs, and I can tolerate cherries. Still, I'm very cautious around this genre, but luckily there was a demo available, so I fired up Steam and jumped into the demo to fight for justice and comedy.

Naturally, comedy is subjective, but does this story's punch-line stick it's landing? Find out after the break!

This Can Only End Badly

This is a project that I never thought I’d try to do. Not only is it over a subject that I feel mostly ambivalent towards, but it’s also something that’s guaranteed to frustrate me as much as it will entertain me. Before I watch or review anything here, know that I’m not going in looking for a fight or hoping to be another one of the “angry reviewer” archetypes that seem to populate this weird gooey webworld we live in. People who devote themselves to this role either wind up having a complete mental breakdown or get so full of themselves that they’d drown in a lake trying to make out with their own reflection. I just want to entertain and be entertained. This is a hobby.

Coming Soon

I'm going through a transition phase right now. Please allow me until November 17 to prepare as you speculate as to what I'm planning with this thing.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I'm obligated to remind you to remain hydrated until that time. ¡Buena suerte!
